Richard delivers message of thanks from Cameron

personal message from David Cameron was read to the audience of around 200 people at an evening concert at the Flower Festival at the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Stanborough Park on Saturday 27th June 2009. The concert raised over £1,400 for the Children’s Hospice, Helen & Douglas House in Oxfordshire. Concern for local residents over swine flu

Richard Harrington has said of reports that a pupil at Queens School has contracted Swine Flu, and the consequential closing of the school:

Busting open politics

Richard harrington speaks about the local council election results:
“With so many people voting for minor parties this is clearly a protest vote. These results are a reflection of people’s reactions over the recent expenses scandal that is damaging national politics. The people of Watford have sent a clear message to Gordon Brown and the Government- that it is time for change. Richard and the Shadow Environment Secretary Greg Clarke visit the BRE

Richard Harrington has visited the Building Research Establishment (BRE) in Garston, Watford, with the Shadow Minister for Environment, Greg Clarke, to see Watford’s new ‘Green House’. During the visit they were shown around the prototype zero carbon house built by the Barratt housing company, situated in the Building Research Establishment innovation park in Garston. Richard Harrington and Greg Clarke were shown around by Mark Clare, Chief Executive of Barratt Developments.

Almost 500 sign EU petition

Over the course of an hour, on Friday May 8th hundreds of Watford residents signed a petition to the Prime Minister asking that the public be given a referendum on the Lisbon Treaty.
Prospective MP, Richard Harrington, and European Parliamentary candidate, Vicky Ford, along with local campaigners gathered 480 signatures for the petition at a stall on Watford High St on Friday morning asking that they be given a choice on whether or not the UK signs up to the Lisbon Treaty.

Richard Harrington visits Watford Boys Grammar School

On Tuesday the 23rd March Richard Harrington paid a visit to Watford Boys School, speaking to the pupils and answering their questions on politics, the Conservative Party and the economic crisis. The visit started with Richard discussing his involvement in politics and what he believed to be the core values and interests of the Conservatives. Richard Harrington visits G.R.O.W.

Richard Harrington continued his interest and involvement with action on homelessness by visiting the Group for the Roofless of Watford (G.R.O.W.) on Wednesday 18th March. G.R.O.W. is a charitable organisation that provides support, accommodation and help for vulnerable and disadvantaged people of Watford and the surrounding areas. Richard was shown round the residential centre which provides practical and emotional support for its residents including teaching residents how to cook, help them find jobs and was very impressed by the environment which seemed like an encouraging and comforting family home.
